Unfortunately for you guys (because I know you care SO much), we had such a good time that I forgot to take very many photos. So these will have to do.
We spent most of our trip eating at great places, because that's what you do in Springfield. I had the best cottage pie (one of my favorite foods) at Farmer's GastroPub, one of our favorite spots, which only uses ingredients from local farmers. I had pumpkin crepes from Aviary, another favorite, which is basically every 20-something girl's dream brunch spot. I had my first Culver's experience - For the Okies, it's kind of like Braums mixed with Freddy's, but with a LOT more sides to choose from. We had Pappo's pizza, which was fantastic! I got the margherita pizza. & we finished off the trip with a stop at Hurts Donuts. The photos should be explanation enough for this place, & if you're jealous, they have a location in Norman now!
When we weren't eating, we spent our time exploring downtown & the vintage shops in the Commercial Street area, perusing through flea markets, & playing video games at the house we rented. We also played a ton of video games at 1984, which is a fantastic arcade downtown. You pay $5 for admission, & then you can play as many games as you want until they close! They've got everything from Pac-Man to Donkey Kong to Star Wars, & it's the best. Laker & I were actually asked to be interviewed for a news story while we were there since they were having a special event that night (this is the second time that we've been asked to be on the news in Springfield, oddly enough), & although we said no, I think Cary & I ended up in the background of some shots. So basically we're famous.
This was also the first New Year's Eve since Laker & I have been married that neither of us had the flu. Starting the year off strong! Really though, this year has started off well, & I'm hoping the rest of 2015 will continue in the same way!
