I've also been trying to cut back on soda & drink more water, & to find things to snack on that aren't so unhealthy.
Here are some of the products I particularly like, & their rankings on the app where available.
Garnier SkinActive Micellar Water
One of Mackenzie's bridesmaids, whose name is also Sydney, raved about her micellar water & how much she loved it. She told me how it was a gentler way to remove makeup. I'm the laziest person when it comes to washing my face, & I generally just scrub my makeup off with a face wipe & call it good. But that doesn't always remove all of the dirt & makeup, & it is rough on my eyelashes, so I decided to give the micellar water a try & ordered some off of Amazon. I. Love. It. So much. I see why Sydney was so enthusiastic about it! I just dab some onto a cotton ball, & a tiny bit gets off all of my eye makeup without scrubbing. It's not oily, like a lot of liquid makeup removers, so my face actually feels clean after I use it. I definitely recommend this!
Our friend Brandy & her family run 4D Farms, & they have been selling some of their veggies at the local farmer's market. Recently, Brandy posted this article about the benefits of switching to reusable dryer balls, & said that she would be making alpaca fleece dryer balls soon. I was so excited to try them! We purchased three, & have been using them ever since. I'm looking forward to seeing the long-term benefits!
I have always been a fan of Burt's Bees lip balm, & of many of their other products, but lately they've been coming out with tons of new lip balm flavors that have me in love with them all over again. My current favorites are Honey & Vanilla Bean.
I know Honest Tea has been around for a while, but I'm just now getting on board somehow. I love tea, but I usually brew my own at home & don't buy bottled teas. I saw the Honey Green Tea at a gas station on our way out of town one day, though, & it just sounded great. So I grabbed it & loved it. They're fair trade & organic, which is really nice, too!
I am obsessed with this stuff. We were grabbing Starbucks one day & I didn't want coffee, tea, or anything super sweet, so I picked up a Blackberry Hint bottle. Most flavored waters don't have much flavor, or there are added sweeteners or chemicals that just don't work for me. But Hint tastes just like fruit-infused water. The blackberry flavor is strong, but not overwhelming. It also has no added sweeteners or preservatives, & uses non-GMO fruits. The only downside is that it's a bit pricier than most bottled water, & is trickier to find.
I read about this soap on about a million blogs, & figured I needed to see what all the fuss was about. I have had horrible breakouts in the last couple of years, since I have been changing hormone treatments so often. My skin tends to be oily in places, & dry in others, so I am always skeptical of acne treatments since they tend to dry out skin. But this soap has helped me so much. It dries out problem areas, but smooths all of my skin without being too harsh. If I use it daily, it gets to be a little too dry, but even every other day or a few times a week is fine. I keep my bar in the shower, so that helps me remember to use it more (like I said, I'm a lazy face washer)! This is also rated a ZERO(!!!) on Think Dirty.
We discovered Basin on one of our Disney trips, & all of the girls in my family have been hooked ever since. You can fill a tube with as many bath bombs as you can fit (usually about 7) & it's only $19.99 - such a good deal! Lately, that deal has been holding me over just long enough for us to make another trip to Florida. Basin is all natural, cruelty-free, paraben-free, & alcohol-free. Their scents & colors are generally pretty subtle, which is relaxing. Their products are also available online, but shipping is a bit pricey, so try to catch them during a free shipping promotion if possible!
Most of you know that I am obsessed with bath bombs. Honestly though, I had hardly stepped foot in Lush until this past year (I know - shocker!). I always have a stash of Basin bath bombs, & I like to experiment with making my own bath products, so I just never really went in. But my pen pals from Germany started sending me lots of great Lush stuff, so I started to go in every once in a while & grab something new to try. I also liked that they're cruelty-free, vegetarian, & super conscious about packaging. It's nice to see the stickers showing who made the products too.
During my surgery recovery, Whitney sent me a gift card, so I got to splurge on some things I wouldn't normally have tried! The girl who was working when I went in was so sweet & helpful, & she stayed with me through my whole purchase, but wasn't overwhelming or pushy. She helped me pick out a face mask (Brazened Honey) that was good for my skin type, & didn't include of my known allergies. It was made fresh that same day. I also got a Lava Lamp bath bomb, which was so great! The purple spots break apart & make lava lamp designs with cocoa butter, which made my skin really soft. The colors were super bright & the scent was citrus-y & strong. It was fun for a "splurge" night, but not an everyday/often kind of thing. I also got a massage bar (I think it's From Dusk 'til Dawn), which is citrus-y & works with your body heat.
Mackenzie also got me Aliens & Monsters, which is a bath play-dough that can be used as soap, shampoo, or bubble bath. Another great feature of this product is that 2.5% of each sale from Lush's "Fun" products goes to "providing safe places for kids to play following the Fukushima nuclear disaster" in Japan. & I've recently purchased their Tea Tree Toner Tab, & Cosmetic Warrior mask to try out.
My aunt Tanya sent me this gorgeous Beauty & the Beast cup from Disney World, which I had fallen in love with from people's Instagram posts! I was so excited that she was able to snag one (they sell out super fast!), & so thankful she got one for me. It has also been motivating me to drink more water, because I'm excited to keep it with me all the time!
Elk River Soap Co. by Kassidi
My cousin, Kassidi, is selling some fun bath & body products, & I can't wait to give them a try! I'm particularly looking forward to the bath bombs (of course! The Black Magic one is intriguing!), but am also considering giving the Dead Sea Mineral Mud Mask a try!
B'Livinn nail polish
These are cruelty-free & vegan nail polishes, & they come in the cutest little boxes. Which is unnecessary, but a nice touch.
Jamaican Black Castor Oil
I recently bought some Jamaican black castor oil, which is supposed to help repair hair damage & promote growth. I've only used it once so far, but I'm hoping to see some real results after giving it some time!
This is a reusable alternative to plastic wrap. I saw a video about it on Facebook, & I'm intrigued enough to want to give it a try!
